Choosing the right hosting plan
A practical way to size a VPS, Minecraft, Hytale, or FX Server plan without over- or under-buying.
The easiest mistake to make when ordering a server is guessing. Buying the biggest plan "to be safe" wastes money every month, and buying the cheapest one to save money often means restarts, lag, or a server that grinds to a halt the moment your community grows.
For game servers (Minecraft, Hytale, FX Server / FiveM), the number that matters most is concurrent players, not total members. A Discord with 500 members but 15 people online at once needs far less than a community with 15 members who are all online together. Plugin- or script-heavy servers (economy plugins, custom FiveM resources, large modpacks) need more RAM per player than a vanilla or lightly-modded server.
For VPS hosting, think in terms of what actually runs 24/7: a Discord bot or two barely touches 1 vCPU / 1-2GB RAM. A small web app or a handful of light services fits comfortably in a mid-tier plan. Anything doing real computation continuously (bots processing large amounts of data, multiple game servers on one VPS, build pipelines) should be sized generously, since a VPS that is constantly at 100% CPU will feel slow across everything running on it, not just one process.
A good rule of thumb: start one tier above what you think you need for the first month, watch actual resource usage in your panel, and scale from there. Upgrading a plan takes minutes and does not require you to rebuild anything. Downgrading later is just as easy if you over-ordered.
If you are not sure, open a support ticket with a short description of what you are running (player count, plugin/mod list, or what the VPS will be doing) and we will recommend a plan honestly, including telling you when a cheaper plan is genuinely enough.
