DDoS protection & server security basics
What our built-in DDoS protection covers, and the basic hygiene that keeps a server safe beyond that.
DDoS protection is included on every plan at no extra cost, and works at the network level. Malicious traffic aimed at flooding your server is filtered before it reaches your VPS or game server, so a normal player base or normal application traffic is unaffected while an attack is being mitigated.
Network-level protection covers the most common attack type (volumetric floods aimed at taking a server offline), but it does not replace good application-level hygiene. A few habits go a long way: keep your panel and any account passwords unique and not reused elsewhere, enable two-factor authentication where available, and be cautious with plugins, mods, or FiveM resources downloaded from unofficial sources. A malicious or poorly written one is a far more common cause of a compromised or crashed server than an external attack.
For game servers specifically, keep staff/admin permissions limited to people you actually trust, and use a proper permissions plugin or framework rather than giving broad operator access to many accounts. For VPS users running their own software, keep SSH key-based login enabled instead of relying solely on passwords, and keep installed software up to date. Most real-world compromises come from an outdated, unpatched service rather than a sophisticated attack.
If you ever suspect unusual activity, unexpected resource spikes, unfamiliar files, or a service you did not start, open a support ticket immediately. We would rather help early than have you find out the hard way.
